Dr. Jonathan S. Chu is a Chinese-American filmmaker and interventional pain medicine physician.

He was born in New York City in 1986, and grew up in Central Pennsylvania. Since childhood, he had a deep passion for creative writing, filmmaking, and visual art, which continued even during his years engaged in the field of medicine.

He attended York College of Pennsylvania, where he majored in biology and graduated Summa Cum Laude. He went on to earn his MD from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine / Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

Next, he completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Lankenau Medical Center, outside of Philadelphia. He then went on to pursue residency training at the Weill-Cornell Medical Center and Columbia University Medical Center Combined Program. Afterwards, he moved across the country and completed fellowship training in Interventional Pain Medicine at the University of California, San Diego, where he learned advanced procedures for the treatment of pain from renowned leaders in the field. During his medical training he was published in multiple peer-reviewed medical journals, as well the textbook: Peripheral Nerve Injury and Pain. He then went on practice as an attending physician in the field of interventional pain medicine for four years, serving thousands of wonderful patients in Central Pennsylvania, where he grew up. He is double board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) and Pain Medicine.

After reaching specific personal investment goals, he made the leap and began working towards becoming a professional filmmaker, his dream and passion since childhood.

Currently, he has dedicated himself to improving his skills as a filmmaker, and is relentlessly developing every aspect of his craft—including cinematography, writing, and editing.

Lastly, he also has a strong interest in photography and drawing, as well as a burgeoning fascination with travel and foreign cultures. So far on his filmmaking journey he has lived in 5 foreign countries, with more to come.
